Philippines Consul General Visited GZAC

The Consul General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou and his delegation visited the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission.


Recently, Mr. Iric Cruz Arribas, Consul General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou, and his delegation  visited the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (hereinafter referred to as “GZAC”) to learn about GZAC’s arbitration services and recent developments. Mr. Wang Tianxi, Director of GZAC, led the team in extending a warm welcome.



The delegation toured GZAC’s intelligent case filing hall, intelligent hearing rooms and historical gallery, where they gained insight into its innovative achievements and watched a promotional video on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Online Dispute Resolution (APEC-ODR) Platform.

During the discussion, Consul General Arribas stated that China has always been an important trade partner of the Philippines, with Guangdong Province maintaining particularly strong trade ties. He highlighted that GZAC offers a more convenient and efficient dispute resolution mechanism for enterprises from both countries, which can significantly boost the confidence of Philippine enterprises in pursuing trade cooperation with China. He expressed his intention to actively promote GZAC’s high-quality arbitration services to Philippine enterprises. As this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines, he conveyed his hope to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Additionally, he welcomed GZAC to establish closer ties with legal institutions in the Philippines, with the aim of jointly fostering a more stable and fair trade environment for businesses from both countries.

President Wang Tianxi provided an overview of GZAC, covering its general operations, foreign-related cases, and accomplishments in internationalization, specialization, and intelligent development. He noted that as GZAC's cases become increasingly international and diverse, he looks forward to seizing the opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the Philippines. At the same time, he expressed his anticipation of learning from the advanced practices of Philippine legal service institutions. Through mutual exchange, GZAC aims to further enhance its professional expertise in international arbitration, better serving enterprises from both countries. President Wang assured that GZAC will actively respond to the Consul General's proposal and deepen cooperation moving forward, helping to elevate trade relations between the two nations to new heights. This meeting not only fostered mutual understanding but also laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between Chinese and Philippine institutions in the field of trade dispute resolution, potentially injecting new momentum into the economic and trade development of both countries.

Also present at the discussion were Aprilfleur S. Galima-Mejia, Consul of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou; Rona Mae B. Mendoza, Consular Attaché; and relevant department personnel from GZAC.
